Lanesboro, Minnesota
Program
The Business of Ibsen,
Hal
Cropp is the Artistic Director of the Commonweal Theatre
Company,
the only company in North America to mount an annual
Ibsen
Festival in conjunction with their annual season opening
production
of Ibsen, and winner of a 2008 Ibsen International
Scholarship
award. He was also nominated for the 2009
International
Ibsen Award. Hal has been integral in the development
of
this now 13 year old project, having directed: The Wild Duck,
Peer
Gynt, and Hedda Gabler and appearing in Ghosts, Hedda,
When
we dead awaken, Rosmersholm, Master Builder. He is also
appeared
in the title role of this year's John Gabriel Borkman. He
has
lectured on Ibsen, Ibsen's relationship to women, Ibsen's
impact on modern thought, and Ibsen's role as the father of Modern
Drama to audiences all throughout the upper Midwest.
